Launched in the UK in 2018, Maker&Son create natural and sustainable furniture and homewares dedicated to comfort. Handmade with purpose, conscientiousness and craftsmanship at its core, Founders Alex Willcock and his son, Felix Conran – grandson of the late Sir Terence Conran – are disrupting the way products are designed, made and sold. Maker&Son combine proprietary technological innovations with their extensive hands-on experience, and a dedication to forming an emotional connection. This amalgamation of the best-of-the-past and the vision-of-the-future has afforded Maker&Son the recognition of ‘The Most Comfortable Furniture in the World’ in their debut ‘Song’ range.
Maker&Son have captured the imagination of their customers with a modern, direct-to-consumer business model, brought to life through their Mobile Showrooms – a fleet of beautifully fitted vans which blend their digitally-pioneering sales model with a tailored customer experience, personally visiting clients at home or work. Founded in the United Kingdom, the company has now expanded to the United States, Australia, New Zealand and most recently, Ireland. In addition to roaming Mobile Showrooms in all locations, bricks and mortar experiences are also available: in the UK by appointment-only at the family’s own 17th-century home in rural West Sussex, in the US at the Tribeca, New York showroom and across the homes of select ambassadors in Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian company was launched at denfair in June 2018. The manufacturers are based in Melbourne and Christchurch using locally sourced hardwood and wool. Head office is based in Brisbane and mobile showrooms are located in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, Christchurch.
