The IDA brings together Australian design professionals, suppliers, and trades who share a commitment to building the industry through connection, learning and collaboration.

At the IDA, everything we do is about creating value for our members.
Our work is guided by three key pillars — community and support, professional development, and genuine connection and collaboration.
What makes the IDA special is its welcoming, friendly and inclusive environment which encourages the development of meaningful connections and genuine friendships.
Engaging with fellow designers is an enriching experience, particularly for small business owners. Not only is it great to talk to someone who can relate to your situation but the collaborative and supportive environment of the IDA means that there’s always a fresh perspective, a cheer squad for one another’s’ successes and a support network for professional challenges.
Many of our members are small business owners who face the daily challenge of balancing creativity with the demands of running a business.
That’s why many of the IDA’s events are designed to help members expand their knowledge and skills.
We regularly collaborate with industry partners to showcase their products and services, keeping our community informed about the latest developments. We also invite external experts to present on key professional development topics, such as the legal and financial issues that impact our industry today.
Regular connection with industry suppliers and trades is essential in the design industry and there is always something new to learn.
The IDA partners with a broad range of supply partners and is continually building new relationships to broaden opportunities for our members.
These partnerships create valuable channels for collaboration and ensure our designers stay at the forefront of new and exciting industry developments.

Opportunities to connect
The IDA regularly organises events for members in collaboration with industry partners.
Attending these events builds valuable connections with other designers and partners and offers endless opportunities to explore and learn about new brands, products and services.
Tailored memberships
IDA memberships are available to design professionals, design students and associated industry partners.

The IDA welcomes design professionals including interior designers, decorators, stylists, colour consultants, lighting designers, landscape/garden designers, other related industry professionals and design students.
Design professionals are invited to all events and welcomed into a private Facebook group where our community actively engages in regular conversation and ask one another questions.
Every member has a business listing on the IDA website to display their portfolio, a bio and their contact information.
They are also invited to share their profile and projects on the IDA’s official social media platforms (Facebook & Instagram).
All design professionals have the opportunity to enter the HIA Awards Program at a discounted rate.
Industry associates are welcomed and include licensed trades and suppliers of products and services to the interior design and build industry.
Invitations to all IDA social events, product nights, technical workshops and conferences are open to industry associate members and are a wonderful way to forge deeper connections.

The monthly e-newsletter is a fantastic way to communicate with the Design Professional community and partner members are welcome to provide content as regularly as they wish.

The Interior Design Association is a not for profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers that donates their time and expertise to build and enrich a community of like-minded interior design professionals and industry associates.
