Description

Francois Detaille is a French Australian Fine Art photographer based in Brisbane.

He specialises in nature abstract photography prints.

His aerial work brings a fascinating perspective of our world, each print telling a different story to the viewer. His large portfolio of photographs is available in various printing medias such as:

HD Metal, Fine Art Canvas or Framed Fine Art Prints, all crafted to the highest industry standards.

His latest series, called “Western Australia from Above: an Abstract Wonderland”, has won gold in 5 categories at the 2024 European Photography Awards: Fine Art Photography Nature, Landscape and Abstract, and Nature Photography Nature and Landscapes.

This series is based on his photography voyage done in July 2024 across Western Australian in quest of the most breathtaking natural landscapes on the continent. The result is a stunning collection of abstract photographs aimed for interior designers, hotels, businesses and private costumers.

In this new series, Francois takes us on his journey to Western Australia chasing nature abstracts over the oldest, flattest, and driest continent on earth. From the multi-colour salt lakes of Perth Wheatbelt region to the red sand of World Heritage Shark Bay and the salt farms and mesmerising landscapes of the Pilbara and the Kimberley regions, the art forms produced there by Mother Nature often surpass our imagination. This abstract journey also makes us realise how much nature can create the most incredible art overtime, which is a real treat for the soul and another testimony to its priceless beauty. Such picturesque landscapes truly captivate one’s imagination and demonstrate boundless creativity. A tribute to Mother Nature that we, more than ever, need to protect and cherish across the globe for generations to come.

Bio:

His family background is deeply rooted in photography since his father, grand-father and great grand-father were all professional photographers in France. An interesting fact is that his great grandfather was at the time the successor in Marseille of the famous photographer and inventor Nadar, who took the first ever aerial photography back in 1858 above Paris from a hot air balloon.

In 2021, the Detaille Art Studio was launched selling prints in Australia and worldwide via its online gallery.

In 2023, he held his first 2 exhibitions here in Brisbane:

“Down To Earth”: a testimony to the amazing Australian coastline, its stunning abstracts and abundant marine life. The exhibition was a success with all the large metal and fine-art framed prints sold out.

“My Future Is In Your Hands”: a Koala photographic exhibition involving local photographers held at Brisbane City Hall with government, industry and community representatives. All sales financed a Koala kindy at the Queensland Koala Society.

Artist statement:

“Art is in nature, shaped overtime with boundless creativity, the best remedy for the soul. My goal is to convey that same peace and grace to you as a viewer, offering a moment of amazement & a feeling of deep belonging to our beautiful planet that, more than ever, needs to be cherished for generations to come.”
